A Quick Note To Website Builders

If you build websites for a living. Now is the time to Go Here and download a preview copy of Internet Explorer 8. The important thing is that you do this BEFORE the browser is launched and not AFTER. This will prevent a future incident where your inbox will be filled with complaints from customers.

That being said IE8's standards compliance is much better so problems (if any) will be minor, but it always annoys me when companies use the "It wasn't out so we couldn't test against it" excuse when there was a preview build (specifically for compatibility testing) available months before the official release.

Internet Explorer 7

Microsoft just released IE7 and it's great. Have been trying to crash it, but performance is excellent. Lots of nice stuff and everything just seems better. It even has truetype so all the text looks nice and squishy on CRT Monitors, but on LDCs it should look brilliant.

You can download IE7 from Microsoft Here, but to install it they first want to verify your copy of XP (this is built into the installer) so that takes a little while.

Internet Explorer 7 Feature Compleate and Locked

The IETeam is Locking-down IE7 meaning that once it is locked nobody can touch it because it has gone through all the standards testing and has come through clean. There is always the change that somebody will find something, but this will happen after it is launched.

The launch will come as a Critical Update from Windows Update Service. If you don't want IE7 then you had better download IE7 Blocker soon because there is no telling when it could be released.
